Porcelain St. Jude Pendant - 14K Gold
$192.95

Oval St. Jude Medal -- hand-painted porcelain -- with inscription on back, with frame and bail made of 14K Yellow Gold. The size, in millimeters, is 25.00X19.50 MM. St. Jude, also called Thaddeus, was one of the twelve apostles and brother to St. James the Less; James and Jude were also (probably) cousins to Jesus, and both were authors of New Testament books. He is usually depicted wearing an image of Jesus on his chest, alluding to a miraculous cure that was given to a ruler who asked that a picture of Jesus be brought to him, and obliging, Jesus pressed his likeness onto a cloth, which Jude delivered. St. Jude traveled extensively with St. Simon after Pentecost, bringing the gospel to Mesopotamia, Libya, Turkey, and Persia. St. Jude is known as the saint of the impossible; many people who find themselves in desperate circumstances will ask St. Jude to intercede with God to obtain help with their problem. St. Jude is the patron saint of hospitals; his feast is celebrated on October 28th. © 2006 In 1531, in what is now Mexico City, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego, a native who had recently become a Christian. She asked him to deliver a message to the Bishop: that she wanted him to build a temple there in her honor, where she could show her love and compassion to all the people. The Bishop naturally was skeptical of the claims, and asked Juan to invite the Lady to perform a sign so that he could know that the message was, in fact, from Heaven, and not from Juan's imagination. On December 12, she gave the Bishop more than he bargained for: she filled his apron with beautiful roses - which should not have been growing in the middle of winter - and when he presented the sign to the Bishop, immediately, in the presence of all in the room, an image of the beautiful Lady appeared on his apron (tilma), which he had been using to hold the roses. The miraculous image can be seen to this day in the basilica in Mexico City, and is visited by 20 million pilgrims each year. ©2006

A large man from Palestine, he worked for a while helping travelers to ford a raging river, sort of like a human ferry. One day a small child asked for this service. Perched on Christopher's shoulder, the child grew heavier and heavier as they crossed. Reaching the other shore, Christopher asked him "Who are you, that you placed me in such peril? It seems I was carrying the whole world on my shoulders!" The child replied, "You not only carried the world, but him who made it; I am Jesus Christ the King." The St. Christopher, to this day, is one of the most popular medals worn. © 2006 Click here to see our selection of chains: Chains This item will ship separately from our warehouse, if you have other items in your order they will arrive separately.
