Our Lady of Fatima Medal – 14K Gold [Small]

Our Lady of Fatima Medal - 14K Gold [Small] Round Our Lady of Fatima Medal, with inscribed beveled borders, with shiny, flat back, made of 14K Yellow Gold. Available in: Small - 15mm; Medium - 18mm; Large - 22mm; Extra Large - 25mm Fatima, Portugal was the scene in 1917 of a series of appearances of a "Beautiful Lady" to three shepherd children - Lucia, 10, and her cousins, Francisco, 9, and Jacinta, 7. At the time, the government of Portugal was in the hands of an anti-clerical regime - inspired by the same ideology that was to break out violently in the Bolshevik revolution in Russia later that same year - and they persecuted the children and tried desperately to discredit their story. In the six monthly visits (from May 13 to October 13) the Lady: asked them to pray and make sacrifices for sinners; showed them a vision of hell; promised they would go to heaven; told them the war (World War I) would soon end, but another would break out; revealed a secret to them; said that "Russia would spread her errors...;" but promised that she (Russia) would be converted if the Pope would consecrate the country to her Immaculate Heart; and finally, promised a great miracle would occur on the last day of the apparition - October 13 - at which time she would also reveal her name. Word of the promised miracle spread rapidly, and 70,000 were on hand to witness it: a great solar display that was both marvelous and frightening, and which completely dried the grounds and the people, who were soaked from a torrential rain. As to her name, she said "I am the Lady of the Rosary." Pope John Paul II was shot by an assassin on May 13, 1981, and credited Our Lady of Fatima for saving his life. Fatima is home now to a magnificent basilica, receiving millions of visitors annually. The scene of the apparition is depicted on the medal. Her feast day is October 13.
